The giant China’s Home Appliances company Haier, plans to launch a local asembling business in Kenya starting next year 2026 to deepen its presence in East Africa and create local employment opportunities.

Leon Luchy, Haier dealer at Nairobi and Haier’s region manager, Haier’s region manager, said Kenya is strategically taking place in the company’s expansion of Africa.

”Kenya is a very important market for us. That’s a goal for East Africa, and we strive to not only invest in this market of products, but also invest in local businesses,” he said.

Haier currently offers a wide range of Kenya devices, including refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, stoves, TVs, hot water and more.

In particular, the company promotes inverters and energy-efficient washing machines developed with technologies aimed at reducing energy consumption and improving user control.

Haier Kenya Paul Xie Haiwei CEO, confirmed that the company was working to announce its conference operations in Kenya in 2026, initially focusing on products such as manufacturers, microwaves, fans and more.

The initiative not only improves availability and adaptation of products for the local market, but also increases employment opportunities for Kenyans. It’s a step towards strengthening our commitment to the Kenya economy,” Highway said.

The best products from Haier in Kenya have so far been TVs, fridges, freezers and washing machines. Due to Nairobi’s moderate climate, demand for air conditioning systems remains relatively low compared to hotter cities like Dar es Salaam.

However, Leon sees the potential for growth of commercial air conditioning systems, particularly with the rise in infrastructure projects and increased Chinese investment in the region.

While Kenya continues to develop its manufacturing and infrastructure sector, the planned local parliamentary companies have shown a strong vote of confidence in the country’s economic potential and a major shift in local values in the electronics and devices industry.
