The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with China, with a focus on accelerating the country’s industrialisation and economic transformation.

President Bola Tinubu made this known during a high-level meeting with Mr. Joseph Tegbe, Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

President Tinubu emphasized that the Nigeria-China partnership, particularly under the NCSP framework, remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s foreign and economic policy. He highlighted key areas of collaboration such as infrastructure, energy, trade, technology, and human capital development. According to the President, the strategic alliance with China holds immense potential to drive sustainable growth and deliver measurable benefits to Nigerians.

Mr. Tegbe briefed the President on the progress made since the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement was signed by President Tinubu and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He noted that the NCSP has successfully engaged top Chinese government officials and investors, facilitating targeted investments in critical sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, education, and mineral development.

“The partnership has recorded significant milestones, and we are committed to deepening cooperation to support Nigeria’s development agenda,” Tegbe said. He also reaffirmed the NCSP’s dedication to ensuring that all projects align with Nigeria’s long-term economic goals.

President Tinubu commended Tegbe and the NCSP team for their diligence and strategic approach, expressing confidence in their leadership. He called for the rapid implementation of priority projects, stressing that foreign partnerships must now translate into tangible outcomes for Nigerians.

He urged the NCSP to maintain momentum and ensure that the benefits of international cooperation are felt by citizens across the country. Tinubu reiterated his administration’s resolve to harness global partnerships, especially with China, to transform Nigeria into an industrial and economic powerhouse in Africa.
