Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest oil refinery, has successfully exported its first shipment of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon.

This strategic partnership between Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery and Cameroon’s Neptune Oil marks a new era in intra-African trade.

Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, described the export as a tangible step towards achieving energy independence across Africa.

“This first export of PMS to Cameroon demonstrates our vision for a united and energy-independent Africa. We are laying the foundation for a future where African resources are refined and traded within the continent for the benefit of our people,” he said.

For Cameroon, the partnership is transformative. Antoine Ndzengue, Director and Owner of Neptune Oil, highlighted its significance in boosting the nation’s energy security and economic growth. “This marks a turning point for Cameroon. By sourcing petroleum products directly from Dangote Refinery, we reduce reliance on international intermediaries, strengthening local energy security and supporting economic development,” he stated.

The collaboration extends beyond this initial shipment, with both companies committed to building a sustainable supply chain that will stabilize fuel prices and foster broader economic opportunities across the region.

The export underscores the growing capacity of Dangote Refinery, which boasts a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, making it the largest single-train refinery globally.

For Cameroon, sourcing PMS directly from Dangote Refinery signifies reduced dependency on global intermediaries, enhanced energy reliability, and the potential for significant economic growth. Neptune Oil has solidified its role as a key player in Cameroon’s energy landscape through this partnership.

According to the statement released, the export underscores Dangote Refinery’s ability to meet Nigeria’s domestic fuel demands while positioning itself as a key player in the regional energy market. It described the it as “a significant step forward in accessing high-quality and locally sourced petroleum products for Cameroon.”
