Nigeria and the United Kingdom have established a partnership to promote economic growth, enhance security cooperation and strengthen self-reliance.
Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tugal and British lawyer David Lamy spoke of the cooperation, which also aims to strengthen security and prevent ongoing terrorism.
“By advancing our economic ties through investments and trade, we can unlock substantial growth for both nations, drive job creation and enhance local value addition,” Tuggar said during a joint press conference in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Lamy has highlighted the UK’s commitment to a long-term partnership with Nigeria during her first visit to Africa as foreign secretary.
“It is an overarching framework for our relationship covering the breadth of things that we do together,” said Lammy, who also highlighted the importance of addressing economic growth, climate change, and security threats.
Lamy also spoke about people-to-people connections, adding that the large Nigerian community in the UK has been able to foster cultural exchange and economic cooperation.
