The Zambian government is committed to building an ICT hub through a partnership with Ecobank.
The school will help train other schools across the country to spread intelligence-enabled education and technology skills.
The Minister of Technology and Science, His Excellency Felix Mutati, has set up a four-member working group to implement the school’s transformation.
Mutati said the school would be a leader in disseminating the skills to all schools across the country.
Mr Mutati, who spearheaded the installation of solar panels and skills training for teachers and students at Katoba Secondary School funded by Ecobank, said skills were the future and would enhance learning and teaching.
He said AI would help teachers plan lessons more easily and monitor teachers’ effectiveness.
Mr Mutati said AI would make the education system better for students and teachers.
The event was attended by Collins Mbulo, Director General of Zambia Information and Communication Technology (ZICTA), who was appointed as part of a four-member task force to transform the school into the best place for wisdom.
Ecobank Chairperson Aina Moore said the K300,000 financial assistance from the bank at Katoba Secondary School was aimed at helping students gain stable access to new technology and electricity.
Ms Moore said the bank’s support included one year of free internet access from Interlink, which is connected to the school. She added that one Link Katoba Secondary School has provided teachers and students with the opportunity to receive skills training.
The one District Member of Parliament, Hon Sylvia Masebo, thanked Ecobank for its continued support of Katoba Secondary School and the people of Katoba District, Chongwe District. Masebo called on others to follow Ecobank’s example and contribute to society because the government alone cannot improve and develop the country.
