The Capital Markets Authority of Rwanda (CMA) is joining the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in World Investors Week (WIW). The international event aims to raise awareness of the importance of investor education and protection and to promote various initiatives by security regulators.

Mr. Thapelo Tsheole, Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) of Rwanda stressed the Authority’s commitment to technology in developing the capital market. He stated “CMA Rwanda welcomes all Fintech innovations to test their ideas in our Fintech Regulatory Sandbox. This programme helps both CMA and innovators understand emerging trends in financial technology and regulatory needs through shared learning. It fosters innovation while ensuring we meet our regulatory objectives.”

CMA Rwanda participates in many projects with international regulators to support investors and protect their interests.

Mr. Tapelo noted that IOSCO Investor Week is in line with the mission to raise awareness and investment security in Rwanda. This week, CMA will join thousands of people currently operating in the sector to enhance and develop education on digital business while protecting their investments.

The main objectives of WIW are to promote key messages that support trader education, protection, and financial knowledge and to create an education for investors. The event also aims to promote cooperation between IOSCO members in investor education and protection.

IOSO Investor Week brings together regulators, industry stakeholders and global stakeholders to improve financial literacy and highlight the importance of investor protection. The event is designed to give people the knowledge and tools to make investment decisions on various topics.
