Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda has announced a partnership with Stabex International to facilitate cashless transactions and enhance digital accounting, allowing Airtel customers to easily pay their fuel bills and access other services at all Stabex filling stations in Uganda using Airtel Money.
Ms. Hope Ekudu, Chief Operating Officer, of Airtel Money, said the partnership will further enhance digital finance in Uganda. “Airtel Money is committed to providing innovative, secure and unlimited services to our customers,” she said.
She added ”Through this partnership, our customers can now make cashless transactions for fuel purchases using mobile wallets and access other services onboard vehicles at Stabex filling stations nationwide.”
Ekudu announced that customers who pay using Airtel Money will stand a chance to win exciting prizes including a new Toyota RAV4 hybrid SUV, a motorcycle and e-money. The draw is part of Airtel’s nationwide Vroomula Amajja campaign.
Hope Ekudu added that this partnership will also allow Stabex customers to win exciting prizes in their international Vroomula Amajja competition.
According to the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Q2 2024 report, mobile money transaction volume increased from 1.72 billion in the previous quarter to 1.84 billion. This growth reflects Airtel Money’s continuous efforts to promote a cashless economy by encouraging Ugandans to use mobile wallets for various services such as money transfers, access to cash, mobile banking, bill payments, Airtel Money Pay, international money transfers, airtime purchases and fuel pay.
Stabex International General Manager, Justus Kiptoo, said the growth in mobile money transfer led them to partner with Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda to improve the purchasing of fuel and other services for customers. The partnership supports Airtel Money’s other initiatives to promote cashless transactions and address the ongoing Vroomula Amajja campaign that is changing the lives of Ugandans. Over 2,000 Airtel Money users have won prizes including 52 motorbikes worth £200 million and daily cash prizes on cashless transactions.
