The recently concluded Liberia Investment Forum 2024, held for the first time in Canada, has opened up several investment opportunities for Liberia.

Held at the International Centre in Toronto, the forum brought together a diverse group of attendees, including Liberia’s President, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, and Canadian officials, such as Arielle Kayabaga, Member of Parliament for London West, and Effie Triantafilopoulos, Member of Provincial Parliament for Oakville North-Burlington.

A dispatch from the Office of Liberia Trade & Investment in Canada noted that the forum attracted potential global investors and sector experts, who expressed interest in sectors like mining, sanitation, and infrastructure.

During the forum, President Boakai emphasized Liberia’s readiness to foster a favorable environment for foreign investment, particularly in agriculture, infrastructure, and technology. He stated that “Liberia stands at the threshold of a new economic era, and we invite you to join us on this transformative journey”.

Boakai’s message aimed at attracting investments that would contribute to Liberia’s economic growth and job creation. He also held separate meetings with investors focused on implementing quick-impact projects to spur development.

Canadian representatives, Kayabaga and Triantafilopoulos, both expressed strong support for enhancing Liberia’s investment landscape.

Kayabaga, the Vice-Chair of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association, acknowledged the forum’s importance, calling it a sign of growing collaboration between Canada and Liberia.

The forum was organized by the Liberia Trade & Investment Office in Canada and provided a platform for networking, idea exchanges, and fostering partnerships.

In her welcome speech, Chenkplen Sandy, the COO of QE24 Group, highlighted the Liberian government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for foreign direct investment, aligning with sustainable development goals.
